Mission

Label-Wright was created to address the needs of the renewable energy industry, specifically the photovoltaic sector. Safety and information labels are a simple, yet critical part of system design and operation. Contractors, system designers, installers, and system operators have questions involving the NEC and need answers related to labeling. OSHA has specific requirements related to the design of labels and the identification of hazardous conditions through labeling. Codes require specific system components to be labeled to inform and protect technicians and the general public from hazards and limit liability against system installers and owners. These concerns and questions have not been answered correctly and as a result, Label-Wright, LLC has been created to provide the industry with high quality, code compliant labels per OSHA and NEC requirements.

Experience

Label-Wright was formed by Gernon Harvey who acts as the managing member of the company. He obtained his BS in Appropriate Technology from Appalachian State University after working for Duke Energy for 24 years. His time was spent in nuclear operations where, for 17 years, he was a nuclear control operator licensed by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He spent five and a half years as a technical writer and then several years developing and implementing a labeling project for Duke's three nuclear stations. In that capacity, he was technical lead for the project and was the primary author of the corporate directive for plant labeling. After the three site project was launched, he was designated as the site coordinator at his home station. During the time he was working on the corporate project, he and his wife started an interior sign business. That business focused primarily on providing labels that met the requirements designated in federal and local building codes as part of the permitting / inspection process.

He left Duke in early 2007 to pursue a degree in Appropriate Technology from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. During that time, he worked on renewable energy projects including biofuels, wind, micro-hydro, solar thermal, and photovoltaics. While attending several PV workshops, he noted that persons in the renewable energy industry had a number of questions and concerns about code requirements and labeling issues. Seeing their dilemma, he decided to start Label-Wright and address issues surrounding code compliance and labeling.

What's different about Label-Wright

We have experience with traditional utility systems and their components as well as renewable energy systems and their related components. We are versed in regulatory requirements established by OSHA, the NEC, ANSI, and ISO. We know the materials that are best suited for the conditions which labels are exposed. We know that there is a better option for renewable energy specialist to choose from to ensure compliance and value.

As well as providing a better product, there are liability issues related to using inferior and non-compliant labels. We minimize or eliminate those issues by following the latest OSHA, NEC, ANSI and ISO standards. We can adapt to clients' needs and provide labels that meet the needs of all personnel associated with system design, installation, operation and ownership. No one should ever be injured from known or identified hazardous situations when proper code compliant labeling can help prevent potentially life changing events.
